TPM 021 : Overcoming Fear and Achieving Your Dreams with Krista Newhall
This week’s episode features personal fitness trainer Krista Newhall! I loved this interview. Hearing her story made me think about how there really is no singular way to begin living your passions to the fullest. In the episode you’ll hear her mention how she almost fell head-first into becoming an entrepreneur, and sometimes you need to do that.
There are times when all the circumstances can be just right in our life to really live our ideal life, or to begin creating the life that we want. We are usually the ones who get in our own way though. Opportunities are always coming and going. It’s not a matter of just getting lucky and winning the lottery- though that would still be pretty awesome. It’s more a matter of being ready when the next opportunity comes our way. Are we preparing ourselves now, to be who we want to be in the future? Are we learning all that we can now, so we can take advantage of what’s coming our way?
I love that she talks about fear as well. I look back at my own experiences and the different changes that happen in my life, often all paired with some sort of fear that keeps me from wanting to take action. You’ll never get enough training or knowledge to make yourself completely fearless. It’s super cliché to say this, but you overcome that fear by taking action in spite of it. You will be scared at some point on your own journey, but take the action anyway. That’s how we grow. That’s how we build that powerful mindset. We’re going to spend a good portion of our lives working on something, be it a job or a business or what-have-you. Why not make that work be doing something that you love?
“If you do what you’ve always done, you will get what you’ve always had.” I love this quote. It hits close to home a lot of the time, and reminds me to continually think outside the box and to live outside of my comfort zone. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
Find a mentor. Invest in a coach. Have someone help you to get where you want to go. If you want to see fitness results, find a fitness pro who has results that you want and has helped others to reach their goals. We’ll have all of Krista’s contact information in the show notes if she is that fitness pro that you want to work with! If you want to be an entrepreneur, read about other entrepreneurs. Talk to entrepreneurs who are doing what you want to do. There is no reason that you need to be on your path alone.
Remember that no matter what you do, you’ve gotta start your day right. “Eat a frog in the morning, and it’ll be the hardest thing you do all day.” Was the quote from the episode. Get your wins in early. Exercise, if you can, but even if it’s just making your bed as soon as you wake up, you can get an accomplishment in just like that. When you do that, you are more likely to own the day, and completely tackle the rest of the tasks that you have. It might sound weird, but try it out!
